Gold Coastin'

To celebrate the end of examines and the reaching of my first get skinny goal, we had a night at the Gold Coast. It was tremendously lovely.  We stayed at Club Watermark in Surfers Paradise, had bubble baths, feasted on delicious dinner at this lovely little Turkish/Italian restaurant call La Rustica and watched awesome Sunday night TV.  It was bliss.

Day 10, 27/06/10, our day at the coast.  You'd think that this would be a lovely photo of the beach but I couldn't resist this one. SOUL: now selling.

Day 11, 28/06/10.  Today we had insane calorie buffet breakfast (I'm sure this reward will cause me to put back on everything I lost to get it) and went to Sea World with one Kayceeeeeeeee.  It was lovely.  Lots of good photos but this was my favourite.

These aren't Project 365 ones but they sure are lovely.

That's all for today.
Oh and the Kill Bill movies are awesome.

Toes and Photos

My toes are cold.  And my photos from the last few days are here.  I'll post today and yesterday in a separate entry because there are lots!

Day 8, 25/06/10 Sam and I went to celebrate my last exam (!) by seeing Toy Story 3.  It was A-MAZING!

Day 9, 26/06/10 I innocently attempted to support cerebral palsy by buying a pen and got sneakily Jesus-jacked with this.  You'd think people not buying pens would need to talk to God a bit more.

I Heart Master Chef

Yep, so I'm hooked. Callum on Master Chef made amazing violet macarons the other night so I was inspired to attempt this near impossible delicacy.  Below are Callum's life altering macarons followed by mine...   In my defence, I didn't really think they would turn out (our oven is literally 20 years old for a start), I just wanted to have a little experiment with them and see what happened.  Also, this was after I fiddled with them a bit, they didn't look SO terrible straight out of the oven.  But needless to say: epic macaron fail.

Project 365, 21/06/10:

My picture for Monday is Josephine before our exam, with a tiny cupcake I got her as payback for 13 weeks of free lifts and parking at uni.  Generous, yes.

Tuesday, 22 June (day six) was a late-night-forgot-to-take-a-picture-Sam-say-cheese number.  I like it though.

Wednesday (23/06) was Dennika's choice of reading material for her flight to Hong Kong - London.  I am envious of the flight, but not the entertainment (it's The Last Song in case you can't see).

Which brings us to today, Thursday, day seven of Project 365.  In true form, I worked a four hour shift at Myer and managed to spend two thirds of the money I earned there on my break/on the way out.  But I believe this how to make macarons book was a valid investment.  Hopefully I will be posting pictures of macaron wins in weeks to come.  :)  Also featured is my dog lamp, maybe the coolest thing I have ever owned.

I have a stats exam at 8AM (last one!) so should be studying, but will no doubt end up watching Master Chef.  I will be sad if Jonathon gets eliminated.  But not as sad as Kevin Rudd is today.  Although I am trying to keep an open mind about this political change, I am v. disappointed that Australia's first female Prime Minister had to get into office by sneaking in the backdoor.  Also a bit cranky that two weeks ago, she said she'd be more likely to be a starting forward for the Western Bulldogs than challenge the leadership. Whilst I am not overly stoked about many of Rudd's decisions, I clearly recall voting for him to be the Prime Minister. Pretty sure that tradesies should not be allowed, as I do also vaguely recall something about living in a democracy where like, the Australian public elects their leader or something?  Oh wait no, democracy isn't real.

That's all for today.  Go Jonathon. :)

Clouds and popcorn.

Here are my pictures for today and yesterday:

19 June (day 3) - the sky outside our kitchen window in the morning.  I though those middle clouds were a bit neato.

20 June (day 4) - home made popcorn!  I just bought the kernals and popped it in a brown bag in the microwave.  What a revelation!  You can flavour it however you like, it's like a frillion dollars cheaper than buying those bags and it's much better for you! :)

A Chocolatey Afternoon.

Here is my picture for today.  It sufficiently summarises my afternoon - Josephine, skinny hot chocolates and a yummy chocolate candle all makes for a very productive study environment. :)

Project 365 v.2

I've decided to re-attempt Project 365 and try to take one photo a day for a year.  I did a pretty champ job of this for a couple of months last year but it ended up trickling away as I missed one too many days and lost track of my pictures.  Some of the highlights of my first attempt are below.

So today is day one.  This picture is very boring but very necessary.  It is of the ACTUAL time of the exam I showed up for at 8.00AM today.  Yay team.

As you can see, it is not today's date and it is not 8.00AM.

My dear amigo Kaycee Louise does tricky stuff to her pictures and when she teaches me how I will do this also. :)  But until then, please endure these humble ones.

House Things

Here are some of the lovely things I have bought recently for Unit 9 and 3/4.

Some beautiful vintage tupperware containers like these:

I have the three orange ones and three of the little greenies in my collection.  The greenies I bought at the Paddington Antique Centre and as such, paid significantly more for them than the orange ones, which I thought were quite a steal - $18 for the three at Endos on LaTrobe Terrace (I <3 Paddington).  They still have the original labels saying self raising flour, flour and coconut, so I obliged and filled them with the right stuff. :)

I also bought this little Maxwell and Williams teapot:

I've been hunting for the teapot of my dreams and I don't quite think this is it.  It's only a tea for two one, but I thought it would look lovely in our kitchen and do the trick while I continue my teapot quest.

In the same trip (Robin's Kitchen is conveniently located between where we park the car and where we do our groceries), I also got these cute cannisters.

They look lovely here filled with lollies, but I have much more grown-uply filled them with rice and pasta and such. :)

NB: All these containers are revolutionising the way we live our lives!  They've got little labels and everything!

I've worked in dinnerware at Myer for almost a year now and last weekend finally indulged in a totally-white-everything-matches dinnerset.  After eyeing them off this whole time (and with a little nudge from my very matching Grandma) I decided in favour of Salt and Pepper's Edge 16 piece.

It just so happened when I finally decided to get one, this very dinnerset was 50% off.  Bliss.

Saved the best until last.  I was procrastinating from study the other day (much like I am right now) and came across this beautiful print from www.keepcalmgallery.com

It was a big splurge but I love it with allllll my heart and it will look splendid in our new kitchen.
